Loch Lomond & Trossachs - a guide There are many interesting Scottish holiday attractions available within easy driving distance of the accommodation at Leny Estate both within and outwith the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. These include castles and museums, excellent shopping, beautiful woodlands, rolling hills and mountain peaks. Lochs and forests abound, beautiful streams and rivers, and hidden waterfalls. The Trossachs, an area of renowned natural beauty, including Loch Katrine, on which you can enjoy a wonderful steamship cruise in the S.S. Sir Walter Scott. The Wool Centre at Aberfoyle, which presents an enjoyable, entertaining and informative show on the history of sheep in Scotland. Queen Elizabeth Forest Visitor Centre provides interesting displays and a number of pleasant walks along way marked woodland paths. The Hamilton Toy Museum in Callander has an extraordinary range of toys past and present. Interesting to young and old alike. The Antiques Centre just outside Doune worth a visit if you have an interest in this subject. Doune Castle, a lovely small castle with an excellent main hall, just 8 miles from Callander. For an excellent piece of history visit Stirling Castle which played an important part in Scotland's history. Not just a castle, but also a Royal Palace. The Wallace Monument, built to commemorate Sir William Wallace, who lead a Scottish Army in a magnificent victory over the English at Stirling Bridge in 1297. More history at Inchmahome Priory, the ruins of which can be visited on an island in the Lake of Menteith. Visit a whisky distillery, either at Dumgoyne south of Aberfoyle or Glen Turret near Crieff.
