The North Wing Suite - luxury Scottish self catering castle suite

This is the baronial North Wing self catering castle suite in Leny House. Just completed after 3 years of restoration, the late medieval section of Leny House now provides a luxurious apartment with the comfort of modern heating and plumbing but the atmosphere and ambience of the Elizabethan age.

The original Scottish castle was built in 1513 and extended in 1691, The North Wing has been the most challenging, puzzling, exciting and expensive part of the restoration of Leny House. Discoveries were made of previously inaccessible rooms, changed levels, hidden doorways and windows and the most thrilling discovery of all - the original huge arched stone fireplace of the main hall.

All have been restored, the stonework exposed and brought to life, oak galleries and beams reproduced and the ornate, decorated panelling and cornices replicated and extended. The entrance contains original oak timbers and reclaimed oak was used to restore the balustrades and galleries. The open fireplace in the medieval hall encloses an iron firebasket and decorated canopy that recalls the style of the period. Picture yourself sitting before a log fire with a dram of single malt whisky, candlelight illuminating the stone walls and oak panelling.

The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped with modern appliances installed in oak cabinets to preserve the character. Two luxurious bedrooms are furnished with Victorian antiques and have 4 poster beds [5 feet wide] with heraldic drapes on the beds and at the windows. Each has a bathroom with high quality, traditional Victorian reproduction porcelain suites.

The stone flagged floors are original to The North Wing and are 16th century, but the heating is pure 21st century. The ground floor has underfloor heating to ensure warm toes on the chilliest Scottish night and there is storage and radiant panel heating throughout all rooms on all levels.

The North Wing is furnished with genuine antiques and artefacts and is unsuitable for children and is therefore available for adult couples only.

2009 Weekly Tariff

Prices range from £975 per week to £1305 per week.

The North Wing is heated by electricity, which is metered and guests pay for what they use at the end of their visit at the standard Hydro Electric rate.

We ask for a deposit of £250 per week on booking and the balance to be with us 4 weeks before guests' arrival. We accept payment by card, Access, VISA, MasterCard or cheques in Sterling.
