5 reasons to visit Callander

While there are many reasons to visit Callander, we thought we’d put together a few of our favorites, so here’s 5 big ones!

1. Scenery

Waking up in the Scottish countryside is an experience like no other and with Ben Ledi on our doorstep, Leny Estate is no exception. The mountain provides the perfect backdrop for a relaxing break – a far cry from city life.

For those interested in hill-walking, climbing, cycling or fishing, this is the place for you!

2. Wildlife

Wildlife is never in short supply in the Scotland! Surrounding the estate, you’ll see everything from birds to farm animals and if you fancy a day out, Blair Drummond Safari Park is just a short drive away!

3. Fresh air

There’s nothing quite like a weekend away from the stuffy city air! Walking in the countryside and breathing in the fresh air is a great way to recharge.

We’re confident that you’ll have plenty of walking to do around the estate, but the surrounding area is also a beautiful setting for an summer evening stroll, if we do say so ourselves!

4. Golf

For those interested in golf, we’re lucky enough to be less than a 10 minute drive to Callander Golf Club, rated by Golf Monthly among the top ten courses in Scotland for visitors, alongside Gleneagles, Turnberry and St. Andrews. Gleneagles is also less than 40 minutes away, with the beautiful settings and the challenge of the golf attracting such top golfers as Johnny Miller, Greg Norman, Seve Ballesteros, Tom Watson, and Lee Trevino, as well as great names from the entertainment and sports worlds including Sean Connery and astronaut Alan Shepard (the only man to hit a golf shot on the moon).

5. Dining

While all of our accommodation is self-catering, there are also a great selection of restaurants just a short drive away.

Located in the centre of Callander, the cafe attached to the chippie has a fresh fish counter piled high with oysters, mussels, prawns, fresh tuna steaks and fish from the north coast of Scotland, caught fresh that day. The menu, as well as offering traditional fish suppers lets you opt for a gastronomic seafood experience: you can select your fish from the counter and ask for it to be grilled, seared, baked or fried. Or you can cook it at home: MHOR Fish is also the local fishmongers.

If you are looking for hearty Scottish locally sourced produce with exclusive house real ales all served in a friendly, traditional pub then come and see us at the Lade Inn.  Situated in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland; in the Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, we aim to ensure that what we provide compliments the amazing area we live in. Choose wholesome meals from our delicious menu or specials board and wash it down with one of our fabulous wines or beers.
