Activities to make you feel holly and jolly this winter

Nothing beats Scottish Christmastime, but sometimes we need a little help getting into that frame of mind… Looking for something to get you in the festive mood? Look no further! We have the ultimate list to get you feeling festive this season! And best of all? All of these events or ideas are close to Leny Estate and would suit the whole family!

Stay at Leny Estate and enjoy the scenery and nature

Of course, this is first on our list. What could be better than staying in a lovely accommodation where you have access to beautiful nature in all its wintery glory? Go for wintery walks and then cozy up by the fireplace for a hot chocolate with lots and lots of marshmallows in it! Leny Estate is the perfect choice if you want to get away, relax and recharge but also like to have activities nearby.

Visit the Christmas fayres and markets

Nothing beats a Scottish Christmas market! They have everything, from delicious food and drink to twinkly lights and wee stalls selling Christmas ornaments… Although the Edinburgh market is perhaps the most famous, Glasgow, Dundee and Stirling also have their own Christmas fayres during this time of year! All of these cities are a short drive from Leny Estate as well!

Cozy up and watch a Christmas rom-com

Nothing is quite as cozy and festive as settling in for a nice Christmas rom-com. Perhaps The Holiday is your favourite Christmas film and you’ve always wanted to stay in Iris’ cottage? Here is the Leny alternative! Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that you’ll meet a young Jude Law during your stay but who knows what other magical things could happen at Christmas time?

Christmas Spectacular at Blair Drummond

Perfect for the whole family, Blair Drummond Safari Park is staging a Christmas Spectacular again! Get ready for a magical day out and enjoy the illuminations, fairground rides, Christmas market and Santa procession! Only a 20-minute drive away from Leny Estate, it makes for the perfect festive day out!

Husky sled rides in the Highlands

Fancy something fun and cute? Why not go for a Husky sled ride this winter tide? Various husky centers in the highlands offer this fun activity and it’s a perfect day out for the family. If you want the activity to last all day, why not book a full-day experience where you’ll get to help train the dogs alongside professional racers? These activities can even be enjoyed without the snow so you’ll be safe no matter the weather!

See the festively decorated windows at the Callander Window Wanderland

This fun festivity comes around once a year (this year it will be from the 9th til the 11th of December) and is a real hoot! The windows of shops and homes will adorn themed decorations for everyone to enjoy. This year’s theme is in support of Ukraine and will feature lots of blue and yellow.

Find the best Hot Cocoa

If you enjoy a wee challenge, set out to discover the very best hot cocoa in Scotland! Try looking at the Christmas markets and major cities, but don’t forget about the hidden gems you could find within Scotland’s many small independent cafes too!

Visit Macrobert Arts Centre in Stirling for a festive panto

Fancy a family classic? Pay a visit to the theatre this wintertime for a UK classic: Pantomimes! The whole family usually enjoys these theatre pieces in which audience participation is highly encouraged. This year, see their interpretations of “Maw Goose” and don’t forget to let the cast members know when the bad guy is behind them!

Visit the Christmas fair in Ancaster Square

The easiest way of getting into the festive spirit is to visit as many Christmas markets and fairs as possible. The Christmas fair in Ancaster Square is only 5 minutes away from Leny Estate as well! The fair is being held on December 3rd and is going to include Santa’s Sleigh Parade, the Christmas lights switch on, mince pies, carols and a visit from Santa himself!
