Spring at Leny Estate
It may not feel like it weather-wise, but Spring has officially sprung! Leny Estate is truly beautiful at this time of year. The stunning surroundings, and the lighter mornings and nights are a real mood booster. It’s important to take a break away from the stresses of day-to-day life and we think a relaxing stay at Leny Estate is the perfect place to do just that. There are plenty of things to keep you occupied on-site and lots of fantastic tourist spots right on our doorstep. Here are just a few activities that are perfect for this time of year.
The Trossachs Trail
The 40-mile Trossachs Trail winds through the Trossachs, which lies between Callander and Aberfoyle. You can hike, bike or boat from various locations on the trail. There are many excellent attractions, towns, villages and natural wonders to enjoy along the way. Not sure where to start or what are a must see on the trail? Not to worry, you can join a guided tour to get the most out of the trail.
Tour Loch Katrine
We think the best way to explore Scotland’s lochs is by boat. Set sail on the historic Steamship Sir Walter Scott on the beautiful Loch Katrine, which is only a 20-minute drive from Leny Estate. We can’t think of a better way to take in the Scottish scenery than on board a cruise. There is also a lovely café at the pier so you can grab a bite to eat before or after your trip.
Take a Whisky Tour
Scotland is known for its whiskey and there are plenty of distilleries to enjoy. Luckily, we have one just 20 minute’s drive from Leny Estate. Deanston Distillery is located in an old cotton mill factory next to the River Teith and they offer distillery tours and tastings. We think this would make a fantastic afternoon out, bring back a bottle of whiskey and enjoy a dram in front of the fire in your accommodation.
Callander Crags and Bracklinn Falls
Up for a hiking challenge? Take the steep climb up to the Crags and you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Callander overlooking Menteith Hills, Loch Venachar, Ben Ledi and the Highland Boundary. If that hike seems too daunting, you can take the much shorter hike to Bracklinn Falls and take in the gorgeous waterfalls and visit the newly restored bridge. This walk is perfect for dog walkers and our Leny Lodge accommodation is dog friendly.
Stirling Castle
Located 30 minutes outside Callander, Stirling Castle is one of Scotland’s most famous royal residences. Kings and Queens throughout centuries were born and crowned here, including Mary Queen of Scots. The impressive architecture and beautiful scenery make this castle a must see. We recommend to pre book your tickets online for a cheaper rate and guaranteed entry on busy days!
Scotland is a beautiful country to visit and explore and we are very lucky to be located in such a lovely part of the country here at Leny Estate.
